Personal Biography

I was born and grew up in Zaragoza (Spain) a few years ago. I have always wanted to understand the way the world works and why it looks like it does so, when I finished highschool, I decided to study economics. Although I don't fully agree on most of the mainstram economic assumptions, I do think economic theory helped me out on my "mission" and I do think it's a useful set of tools to try to understand a good deal of  what is going on out there.

In 2002 I started my bachelor degree in economics at the University of Zaragoza and I took the last year (2005/06) in Sweden as an Erasmus student at the university of Stockholm. I had always liked travelling, but that year really made me wise up to the global era we are living in and all the real chances we have today to get to know different cultures, people and places. Since then, I've been on a never-ending journey between the world and myself trying to figure out what the puzzle where "my piece" fits is like. No conclussions so far.

Probably because of my passion for travelling and moving around, after I graduated I shifted my attention from pure economics to geography and became attracted by spatial analysis; this has led me to focus on the role space plays in determining the economic outcome and to look at the way people spatially interact to resolve economic and social problems.

The other "intellectual hobby" that brings (most of the times) endless hours of fun and learning is open-source software. Since a friend of mine put Ubuntu on my old laptop back in 2007, I have become more and more interested in learning how the machine I actually spend many hours a day with works. Besides the fact that I believe most of open-source is just better than propietary software, I am an advocate of the "learning by sharing" philosophy and I do believe an "open" society is a freer one.
